The great thing about having doctors for parents is that they don't get upset when you don't call them on parent-related holidays. Like Father's Day. My dad understands that, while I might want to call him and talk about fly fishing on Father's Day, I don't always have the time to call when I want to and I also forget what day it is without prompting. I did better this year and called him on Monday. Luckily, my Father's Day gift was delivered on Saturday, so I didn't come off looking like a complete idiot.
I have some scheduled time off coming up. It's only three days, but I'm looking forward to it. As much as I do love my career, I need to sleep about twelve hours straight. The rest of the time, I'll probably be shopping for home furnishings. I have a couch and a couple tables. I really haven't gotten around to buying much else.
How are the rest of you doing? Is there anything exciting going on in Seattle over the 4th of July holiday next weekend?

You haven't really lived until a seven year old child shits on you invades your personal space with an exceptionally disgusting bodily fluid. Yes, it was fluid. I've had my fair share of gross experiences, but even I have a gag reflex. Sometimes it just hits you out of nowhere, no pun intended. It's not the kid's fault. He's sick, so it's to be expected. But it was one hell of a way to spend Mother's Day.
I called my mom during one of the lulls in my shift. She didn't have much time to talk, since my brothers and their families were in to visit. It's just as well. I never have any real news to tell her. Not the kind she wants to hear anyway. That's why my siblings are amazing. 3/4 of them have children, so it takes the pressure off of me.
Nora Roberts came out with a new series. I'm pretty excited about that. Yes, I read romance novels sometimes. I'm a sensitive guy. Haha, I like the stories. It's my sister's fault. I'm going to pause for the laugh track now.
